Alcohol-soaked amber retains superb head, bitterly hopped mineral grain authority and rich caramel finish. Cracked wheat, toasted barley, and cereal grain sweetness trumps sugared cocoa-butterscotch illusions. Definitely for strong ale lovers.

Barely benign ‘American-styled’ amber lacks punch. Piney lemon-peeled orange rind, grapefruit and currant bittering mildly counters crystal-malted barley toasting to alcohol-burnt finish, where grassy hop moderation, bark-dried wood acridity and earthen vegetal tinge sneaks in.

Toasted barley-oat nose unusual for cherry-hued red ale, as is maple-sapped pine-nut theme lingering thickly on red apple-bordered fruited plane. Though tamped-down hops enhance orange peel bitterness, impenetrable caramelized quince finish upsets initial promise.

Concealed 8% alcohol flow appeases buttery sweet malt warmth, variant burnt wood tones, and billowy hop quilt. Sympathetic smoked barley finish hides floral-dried apple-peach nuances.

Neutral moderate-bodied pacifier (contract brewed by Matt Brewing) buries honeyed wheat and bread-y malts beneath mildly hop-embittered tangerine-grapefruit gambit. No clear-cut theme emerges for mainstream fodder.

Busy lo-carb Vienna lager brewed with clover honey and Irish hips boasts woman’s health benefits. Dry hops counter sweet molasses malt creaminess. Graham cracker, vanilla wafer, and marzipan notes abound, though phenol astringency disrupts tender barley roasting. On second passing, floral lavender evanescence shelters soda-like ginger ale flow.

Fine pale-hued amber with daintily-hopped malted barley sweetness and overall earthen minerality needs richer toasted grain finish. Brewery defunct: 2001.
