Midrange summery wheat ale brewed with lemon peel and grains of paradise retains fruity crispness. Coriander-spiced mandarin orange dots white-peppered hop spritz to wheat-honeyed backend.

BLUE MOON SUMMER HONEY WHEAT
Mediocre straw-paled summer seasonal brings thin honey wheat moderation to washed-out mandarin orange, lemon zest and tangerine lag, becoming astringent by cloying clover-honeyed coughdrop finish. Nominal white-peppered coriander spicing fades in the stretch, abating citric dollop. Serve to blander tastes only.
NARRAGANSETT SUMMER ALE
Summery blue-canned moderate body ain’t bad for macrobrewed fluff. Billowy white-headed, pale-yellowed session beer with understated hop-spiced tingle and slim crystal malting plies grassy straw-wheat-hay earthiness to herb-tinged lemon peel zest and faintest pineapple-grapefruit tang. Watery texture lowers appeal.
SARANAC SUMMER ALE
Brisk medium-bodied summer refresher (circa 2011) maintains syrupy peach-lacquered apricot tang above fizzy hop pep to honeyed wheat spine. Sweet lemonade whim caresses sunny Belgian witbier-like citron twist at midst. Herbal-spiced coriander, ginger, lemongrass, menthol, spearmint, and eucalyptus illusions make small cameos. A strapping seasonal bettering most delicate summertime lightweights.
SAMUEL ADAMS SUMMER ALE 2011
ROGUE SOMER ORANGE HONEY ALE
Understated straw-hazed pearly-headed summer ale (known previously as tap-only Eugene City Tracktown Honey Orange) brings subtle candi-sugared fruiting and herbal spicing to paper-thin oats spine. Mild wildflower-honeyed orange peel, lemon meringue, coriander, chamomile and menthol adjuncts brighten salty peppered grassy hop stead. Tertiary watermelon-soured tartness and tranquil lime spritz complete sunny light-bodied mood.
SAMUEL ADAMS SUMMER ALE 2010
On tap, lemon zest, orange juice, and banana-clove burst forth alongside advertised grains of paradise tropicalia, satiating creamy crystal malting. Mango, peach, and tangerine make nice cameos.
MAGIC HAT WACKO SUMMER SEASONAL
Impossibly clear pinkish amber hue proves even lighter and more transparent than soft-toned session beer itself. Faint orange dryness and distant grassy-hopped bittering coerce washed-out beet-sugared strawberry-melon-apricot astringency. Subtle pale-malted Pac Mac yeast influx doesn’t suffice and vacuous citric-soured finish leaves slight metallic twinge. Sadly, summer retreat ain’t nearly ‘wacky’ enough re-tweaking Magic Hat’s equally pallid beet-crazy precursor Kerouac Ale.
BOULDER NEVER SUMMER ALE
SARANAC SUMMER WHEAT BEER
Refreshing amber-hued brew offers dark fruit aroma, gradually increasing lemon and spice insinuations, and strangely, a noticeable lack of wheat essence. Definitely one of Saranac’s finest, this unlikely ‘wheat’ beer sprinkles acidic citrus notes over perky hops and lively carbonation for crisp thirst quencher perfect for pool parties and beachcombers.
