SAMUEL ADAMS BLACKBERRY WITBIER

Fragrant black and blueberry mouthfeel more pronounced than phenol-hopped cranberry souring. Metallic twang soaks up tart fruited candy influence to soapy blackberry finish. Needs thicker malt seepage and sturdier white-breaded spine. On second passing, ripe blackberry-raspberry fruiting had firmer honeyed wheat spine and grazing Mandarin orange, tangerine, and peach snip.

OMMEGANG WITTE

Fizzy white-headed, cloudy yellow-glowed medium body may lack true distinction, but likable lemony clove tartness, light orange-dried honeysuckle herbage and clean Seltzer spritz cannot be denied. Slim banana-coriander cadence gains vanilla-bubblegum snippet lost amongst soft white grape souring, tingling off-dry herbal restraint and narrow wheat margin. On tap at Seven Lakes Station ’23, mild sourdough creaming mellows out dry citrus spicing.

CAPTAIN LAWRENCE SUNBLOCK WITTE

Summery pale straw witbier combines lean Belgian-like white peppered coriander-clove spicing with robust German-styled graining. A bit of a chameleon, its initial overripe banana sweetness recedes as lemon-soured orange peel bittering increases above carbolic soda-like fizz. When metallic alcohol burn subsides, plentiful floral accents affect wood-chipped sawdust respite; finishing sturdily with yellow-fruited abundance.
