Uncompromising German-styled brown ale with deep pruned amber tone matching spice-hopped winter appeal with receptive chocolate-mocha overture. Protruding spruce-tipped wild berry and soured tangerine signifiers embitter sun-dried raisin finish reminiscent of lighter barleywine.

Durable sweet Scotch malt essence, strong alcohol luster and buttery nut flow weakened by muted peat graining. Though ancillary fruit tang and Belgian-like candi-sugaring add creamy cognac depth to lilting sherry warmth, understated soft-bodied appeal dampens resolve.

Though lacking expected holiday seasoning, its prim barley roast, addictive rye-sourdough continuance, and coy biscuit-sugar sweetness poignantly refine the crisp water flow for fine non-seasonal Winterfest simplicity. Creamy reddish golden Scotch-malted alt nestles brown-sugared caramel nuttiness alongside subtle hop bitterness. Vanilla-creamed cherry, peach and spiced apple illusions come and go while wispy grape, orange and fig undertones barely register. Stronger grain roasted resilience would’ve been nice.
