Greece’s supposed “national beer” (brewed in Virginia). Clear sunny medium body amiably contrasts wheat-cracked toasted barley against lemony white grape sourness and bright citric tang. Mildly creamy despite astringency when warmed.

(SHMALTZ) CONEY ISLAND LAGER
Crystalline soft-watered copper-hued moderate body not up to snuff in bottled format. Czech pilsner yeast lacks thrust as rye-wheat frontage falters, lemony floral-hopped grapefruit-orange souring evaporates and tangy apple-peach-grape aspect never challenges. Bland peat malts dim honeyed tea dearth. On tap, busier grain-toasted red-orange fruiting engages caramel-vanilla sweetness to twiggy finish more sufficiently.

O’DOUL’S AMBER
One of the better non-alcoholic beers (0.5% by volume), this amber lager has sweet wheat aroma, sturdy roasted barleymalt palate, and pallid burnt hop fizz. Dry pumpernickel backdrop provides more character than better known American macrobrews, though lack of yeast leaves flat mouthfeel and empty feeling in the stomach.
