On tap at Taphouse Grille – Wayne, luscious Belgian quad spreads dark candi-sugar across dark-fruited spicing and delicate pilsner malting (hiding its heady 9.9% ABV). Rum-soaked raisin, sugar plum, date nut cake, black cherry and fig illusions sweetened by caramelized molasses sugaring. Light sherry wining and honeyed nuttiness add to the busy mix.

BOULEVARD BOURBON BARREL QUAD (WITH CHERRIES)

Uninhibited limited release (2014 Smokestack Series) aged in bourbon oak barrels with cherries proves to be exceptionally complex. Bruised red cherry sweetness battles back vinous white-green grape souring, tart hard cider pucker, sparkling champagne fizz and buttery Chardonnay perk while smoky charcoal variance (from bourbon barrel char) adds noir-ish mood. Oaken vanilla mist enhances chocolate-covered cherry, Maraschino cherry and white pear undertones. Toasted coconut, marzipan and almond sugaring found at a distance.

LOST ABBEY JUDGEMENT DAY

Generously fruited Belgian dark ale is a stronger offshoot of brewers’ fine Lost & Found Ale. Raisin-pureed red grape, cherry jubilee, raspberry, blackberry and melon tones drape brown-sugared Black Forest chocolate caking. Rigorous dried fruiting and rich maple molasses malting gain luster above nutty mocha hide. Tertiary maple, molasses, spiced rum, amaretto, vanilla, black licorice and cocoa illusions deepen impact.

Well rounded fruit-fronted mocha-malted quad with barleywine aspirations maintains mellower stylistic flow. Red-wined Sangria influence affects luscious fruity palate. Red grape, red apple, bruised cherry, lemon curry, cantaloupe and melon illusions ripen above serene caramel-chocolate malting.    

KANE QUAD

On tap at Shepherd & Knucklehead, reliable mahogany-hued Belgian-styled quadrupel (with gorgeous brown-bubbled cascading head) offers red-wined dried fruiting to candi-sugared crystal malting. Musty plum-wined dried prune, sugared fig, sun-dried raisin, blackberry and black cherry overtones pick up molasses-soaked burgundy and bourbon illusions plus wavering stove-burnt coffee and rye chocolate remnants.
