JUST BEER CRAISON

Summery dry-bodied moderation (a.k.a. la saison de pete) forsakes typical stylistic saison tartness for thinner lemony herbal frontage and wispier grapefruit-peeled bittering. Musty grape-skinned clementine, tangerine, navel orange and marmalade souring turns a tad acrid. Mild grassy hops dessicate frail white-breaded spine and local cranberry influence gets hidden beneath slushy citric swerve.

LOST RHINO PRETTY IN PINK SAISON

Intriguing collaboration between local Virginia brewers (Lost Rhino/ Vintage 50/ Hardywood/ Bluejacket) brings lemony pomegranate-juiced tartness to citric-soured grape esters. Vinous green and white grape leathering and oaken cherry pucker cause bone dry acridity to contrast honeyed wheat base. Floral hibiscus-lotus nuances flutter by botanical citric-spiced finishof turbid pink coppered farmhouse ale.

DOGFISH HEAD NOBLE ROT

Well-constructed wine-like saison brings rotted lemon and orange putrification to vinous white and green grape esters. Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and dry champagne wining receives raw-honeyed Belgian yeast barnyard funk as well as musty cellar-like pungency. White-peppered grassy hops lightly affect sour grape scape and latent green apple tartness.

JANDRAIN-JANDRENOUILLE IV SAISON

Easygoing Belgian farmhouse ale scatters honeyed lemondrop souring across bubbly champagne grape prickle, musty white-peppered herbal fungi and molasses-draped black rye malts. Juicy pineapple, peach, banana, tangerine, nectarine and melon fruiting fortifies resinous lemongrass, chamomile, rosemary, thyme and sage undertones. Biscuit-y baked-breaded sourdough bottom stays firm.

DOCK STREET LA BIERE DES AMIS SAISON

Elegantly detailed and highly sessionable saison (with billowy white head above straw-paled body) brings farmhouse-styled airborne minerality to herbaceous citric fruiting. White-peppered lemon zest and yellow grapefruit souring seep inside leathery fresh-cut grassing as lemongrass, cardomom, basil and thyme fill out the midst. A terrific collaboration with France’s Thiriez Brasserie.

PRETTY THINGS FIELD MOUSE’S FAREWELL GOLDEN ALE

Defying timid golden ale designation and much better defined as a fruitier saison, action-packed full body tosses peppery herbal-hopped briskness and honeyed rye graining at sleek citric-spiced persuasion. Lemon zest, naval orange, pink grapefruit, honeydew, peach, nectarine and banana illusions caress crystal-sugared malts. Mild sage, rosemary and woodruff seasoning brings musty twilight setting to lovely all-around fruiting.
