Bittersweet caramel luster dominates soft milky yeast flow of reliable copper-paled Vienna lager. Floral spiced-hop screed, distant toasted barley heed, and dried raisin sneak add depth. Reminiscent of Sugar Daddy candy bar and more complex than ordinary grain-based lagers.

SNAKE RIVER VIENNA STYLE LAGER
WELTENBURGER ANNO 1050 LAGER
(RJ BRASSEURS) BELLE GUEULE ORIGINALE LAGER
DOS EQUIS AMBER LAGER
Bland caramelized amber differs from most agave-enhanced Mexican brews. Pleasant hop fizz persists, but processed grain sweetness cheapens dry tinny finish. Supposed full-bodied Vienna-style lager is too unsophisticated and inconsequential. ’10 re-tasting: tawny-hued Ambar (a.k.a. Amber) gained richer honey-malted barley-roasted hop-toasted caramel nougat center and slightest pecan-walnut tinge. Minor Scotch notch not unlike Michelob Premium Lager.
AUGUSTINER LAGER
STAROPRAMEN GRANAT
Respectable moderate-bodied amber-yellowed Vienna lager hides dainty mocha malt whir beneath hop-embittered barley-cracked wheat husk. Watery flow softens richer-than-expected grain finish that gently lingers.
