Insistent pumpkin protraction gains sweet ‘n’ sour dark fruit variance, mild cereal grained barley roasting, and nutty jot for well-rounded autumn treasure.
SAINT ARNOLD KRISTALL WEIZEN
Serene gold-hazed German-style wheat beer (later named Texas Wheat) augments soft mocha rim with dry rye enticement. Minor metallic astringency at diminished white wheat-floured finish displaces faint citric tartness and repressed banana-almond merger.
SAINT ARNOLD FANCY LAWNMOWER KOLSCH
Sessionable white-headed pale-bodied lightweight frames dry wheat chaff, grassy Hallertau-hopped spicing and earthen mineral grains with continuous barley ascent as soft underlying fruit-nut resonation beckons. Relaxing lawnmowing fare for the proleteriat.
SAINT ARNOLD BROWN ALE
Complex translucent chestnut-amber pils-lager crossover captures softer palates with gentle grain influx and lingering hop bite, bringing lilting fruit undertones to concealed chocolate whim. Dry grape, cherry, and nut add further refinement.
SAINT ARNOLD AMBER ALE
Named after patron saint of brewers, Saint Arnold remains the pride of modern Texas zymurgy. Caramelized cereal grain overlay retains subtle mocha ebb and buttery malt tide to metallic-etched citric finish. Gaunt lemony orange bitterness seeps through spice-hopped midst.
SAINT ANTOINE BLANCHE
Slightly turbid off dry light body smoother, less bitter than brewers’ Honey Pale, countering mild orange succulence and sunny peach undertones with grassy wheat backdrop for superb summer refreshment.
SAINT ANTOINE HONEY PALE ALE
Cloudy sunset hued, fluffy eggshell-headed dry body overlays bright orange tang, subtle honey bitterness and minor apple resilience with increasing wood tones. No longer brewed as of 2006. Below is a picture of Saint Antoine Abbe.
SAINT ANTOINE HONEY BROWN ALE
Honeyed butterscotch frontage loses some distinction by dry bitter finish, but chocolate-toffee malts and collateral tangerine-peach-apple mediation deepen earthy bottom of rust orange-hued medium body. No longer brewed as of 2006.
SAIGON PILSENER
Soured butter malt slickness dulls thin barley strand and bland soapy finish. Closer to dank grainy Eastern Euro than crisp rice-caked Asian.
SAGRES PRETA DARK LAGER
Cascading brownish tan bubbles provide nice visual accessory while pouring frothy-headed ruby-maroon Schwarzbier. Way too slick on the blanched backend (and a tad phenol besides) to recommend to serious dark lager admirers. Yet chalky nuttiness, black chocolate coarseness, fig-licorice twinge and evasive blackened wood bitterness nearly make up for poor cardboard finish.
