WILLIAMSBURG PALE ALE

Decent yellow-bellied medium body placates sweet malt opening with bright peach-nectarine tang, lemon-hopped bittering, and musty herbal mist, garnering oak-dried grape tannic, wild berry, and piney nuances by grassy horsehide finish. Shockingly, viscous milky yeast particles deluge otherwise silky nature. Brewery defunct: 2006.

WOLAVERS PALE ALE

First impression: lightly pined copper-hazed ale compared favorably to Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Sinewy caramel yeast foundation provides perfect ‘tap beer’ essence while subtle nut bitterness firms up wheat-chaffed floral bouquet. Damp dry-hopped orange rind dankness envelops succinct mineral grain finish.

AECHT SCHLENKERLA RAUCHBIER MARZEN

Dark amber-grained ‘rauch’ beer stays creamier than drier Aecht smoked beers. Beechwood-smoked peat malts gain hard salami slab absorbed by maple honey nut easement conveying heady sweetness to dried cocoa repsite. Sappy pine-combed hop toastiness bastes omnipresent wafting cedar-redwood sear. Strangley, at busy cured meat finish, hints of cherry rhubarb pie or tangelo detected.
