Salty margarita astringency, lemon lime-y fizz, and mild agave twist leave throat instantly parched. Dull white bread midst debunks watered down citric club soda/ ginger ale nuisance.

Finally available on these shores by 2001, the original Czech-based Budweiser pilsner (a.k.a. Budvar) is now sold in America as a ‘lager’ for greater consumer access. Consistent spice-hopped bitterness and fizzy carbonation tantalize up-front as reclining barley roast and subtle crystal malting boost full-bodied character. With much more sweet yeast thickness and grain penetration than nearly all of its pilsner-lager competition, this Bud’s first class and totally efficient.

Cold filtered off-dry lager opens with soured yeast splurge and leathery horsehide penetration as peppery hops perk up moderate-bodied resin grain finish. Similar to politely embittered American harvest wheat beers.

Translucent pale Molson offshoot brings wheat-backed sour malt affinity to crisp lemon-hopped briskness. Orange rind bite deepens grainy bitterness, but washed-out soapy finish scales back any dank sweetness.

Sterling golden amber bitter provides juicy lemony orange tang to floral-spiced cherry-apple-grapefruit conflux as dry wheat husk folds into sedate perfumed hop comfort. Thanks to its fruity opulence, it’s an unconventional lager bordering on pale ale styling.

Dry Scotch mouthfeel casually affects honeyed almond serenade, but unspecific sourness nullifies pleasant light-bodied appeal. Barkley Sound’s version is similar.

Healthy-headed New Orleans-styled pilsner remains bland. Not competitive with serious ‘amber’ beers or ales since cheap skunk-y bitterness, oxidized metallic flow, and buttered popcorn finish hurt distinction.

Lame, watery, solvent-like straw-hued macrobrew lacks grain character and gets tinny by musty faux-citrus finish. Pedestrian third-rate cheapster. Will no doubt find cans of this astringent waste at underage parties.
