Sessionable English-styled India Pale Ale brings mildly pungent dewy earthiness, light resinous hop bittering and ESB-like rye malting to brisk lemony grapefruit juicing.

Going for the trifecta, hybridied 17th anniversary American wheat ale gets crossed with a brettanomyces-soured IPA to fine effect. Evenly spread pineapple-grapefruit-tangerine tang and wood lacquered orange rind bittering create dominant IPA briskness that overrides rustic ‘wheat ale’ tendencies. Tart lemon souring, brettanomyces yeast and barnyard funk add ‘sour ale’ affectations. Mild pink peppercorn heat warms the citric aftertaste.

On tap at New York Wing Factory, diacetyl Cascade-hopped India Pale Ale may’ve been infected. Sour lemony orange rot meets musky vegetal murk to ill effect. Closer to a murkily defined pale ale.

Sessionable l’il IPA brings floral-nipped citrus tang to light grassy hop bittering and herbal pine resin. Lemony grapefruit-peeled tangerine, clementine and peach tang casually saunters by dewy pale malts. Just right for lighter thirsts.  

Effervescent fresh-squeezed ruby red grapefruit zest rides above briskly mild Cascade hop bittering and soft-toned pilsner malt dryness. Floral-perfumed lemon seed tartness deepens pink grapefruit resonance.

Easygoing floral citrus serenade picks up wood-dried pining, hop-spiced tingle and herbal nuance. Lemony orange, grapefruit, pineapple and mango juicing provides soft-toned elegance. 

On tap at Burger Loft, rich rye malting deepens resinous piney grapefruit-peeled bittering and moderate white-peppered hop spicing. Lemony apricot undertones seep inside the fruity midst.

On tap at Burger Loft, supposedly ‘atypical’ IPA allows stylishly expected citric-juiced brightness to spread across fresh spruce-tipped pine needling. Yellow  grapefruit bittering rises above lemon-candied pineapple, mango, orange, tangerine and melon tropicalia. Another crisply fine citric-based Barrier IPA, indeed.

Approachable India Pale Ale brings sharp citric hop bittering to earthen wood tones. Initial grapefruit-peeled orange and pineapple bittering falls off a tad, leaving soft-toned lemon, tangerine, mango, pineapple and mango tang to pick up the slack effectively.

Resounding lemony grapefruit-peeled orange rind bittering receives brisk Citra hop spicing. Subsidiary peach, apple and melon illusions add juicy backup. Minor alcohol burn ups the alkaline astringency.

Sleepy up-front tropical fruiting receives pleasant hop spicing before gaining brisk citric prominence at the tangy finish. Part of the High Peaks series, its zesty grapefruit-pineapple-orange triage lies above caramel toasted biscuit malts and light herbal notions (hiding the heightened 8.5% ABV well).

Durable surf-cultured West Coast-styled India Pale Ale in a can contrasts stylish piney fruited bittering and sharp hop oiling against lightly creamed crystal malt sugaring. Pungent grapefruit-peeled orange rind musk intensifies over latent charcoal acridity and delicate floral whims. Lemony pineapple, tangerine, peach, mango and papaya tropicalia adds summertime sunniness to raspy bittering.
