MAINE PEEPER ALE

Immaculate sunshine-glazed pale ale retains clean, refreshing, dry-hopped citric theme. Floral-bound orange peel, grapefruit rind and lemon zest serenity picks up mild peppery hop spicing, piney cologne perfuming and salty carbolic pep. Lightly creamed crystal malts underlie brisk citrus effervescence of well-balanced sessionable easygoer.

LAGUNITAS SUCKS

Alluring gold-hazed Imperial IPA, brewed during Lagunitas Brown Shugga’s temporary demise, brings ‘joyously dry-hopped cereal medley’ to luscious tropical fruiting. Bright floral-perfumed lemon zest, orange peel and grapefruit rind crisping embitters juicy pineapple, tangerine, peach, mango, kiwi and passion fruit illusions over honeyed rye-oats base. Wispy herbal spell underlies refreshing citric mist. When stirred, mild carbolic creaming ensues, pushing crystal malted sugaring to the forefront.

EPIC SMOKED & OAKED

Ineluctable whiskey barrel aging adds sweet bourbon and dry Scotch alacrity to hybridized Belgian-style strong ale. Smoked cherry wood malting at peat-seared beechwood entry fades out to abundant rum-spiced brown chocolate midst. Brown-sugared maple sapping influences ancillary toffee, vanilla and hazelnut illusions as well as wispy cherry-fig conflux. Despite lacking advertised smokiness at busy mocha-spiced finish, rich chocolate dessert is highly satisfying slow sipper.

YARDS POOR RICHARD’S TAVERN SPRUCE ALE

Novel winter-seasoned spice ale based on Ben Franklin’s ancient recipe resembles heather-flowered gruit. While spruce-tipped maple molasses sapping drapes lemon bruised souring and grape-leafed boysenberry-blueberry bittering, herbaceous floral eccentricities unfold. Evergreen-pined spearmint, menthol and eucalyptus freshness seeps into the backend alongside tertiary tarragon, sage and ginger nuances.

BRECKENRIDGE CHRISTMAS ALE

Unbound 2012 winter warmer, less dependent on usual holiday spicing than conventional Christmastime fare, begs for more distinct flavor profile. Dewy peat-smoked earthiness, ashen tobacco-dried chocolate malting and dark caramel sweetness serenade caraway-crusted rye-floured molasses-sapped black breading. But brown-sugared cinnamon-nutmeg-allspice seasoning and tertiary plum-fig-date conflux need richer assertion.

HARVIESTOUN SCHIEHALLION LAGER

Serene warm-fermented pale lager brings fresh-watered mountainside dewy mist and marble rye sourdough breading to tangy grapefruit-peeled pineapple bittering. Lightly salted dry-hopped spicing tingles raw-honeyed ginger tea backdrop at billowy wheat biscuit bottom.  Easygoing sessionable fare ultimately mingles light lagered baked breading with spritzy citric pale ale flare.
