Lemony pineapple zesting, tannic green grape souring, limey bergamot orange tartness and fuzzy peach tang gain floral sweetness to contrast earthen pine whim.
Original 420 given bolder intensity. Sugary mango, peach and pineapple tanginess outdoes orange-peeled grapefruit zesting (and syrupy pear snip plus tangerine-clementine tease) as grassy-hopped astringency and resinous pine stabilize above contrasting honeyed wheat base.
On tap at Taphouse 15, despite mass acclaim, intensely bitter and brusquely dry Imperial IPA’s somewhat harsh aggression seems off-putting. Musky orange-oiled grapefruit pith bittering gains fungi musting and tannic blackcurrant phenols.
