Heavenly chocolate-vanilla-toffee creaminess lathers hop-roasted flaked oat backbone and terse cola-hazelnut stint. Twinkled anise spicing scurries through brown sugared caramel malting.
TOMMYKNOCKER JACK WHACKER WHEAT ALE
Despite loopy name and silly mule-kicked miner on label (inspired by its Rocky Mountain legacy), sunshine-clouded ale doesn’t retain enough flowery hops to interest serious ale consumers. Weak sweet wheat sustenance falters by salted butter finish as hints of banana and lemon-lime fade into fizzy haze.
TOMMYKNOCKER COCOA PORTER WINTER WARMER
Don’t expect noticeable wintry spicing or traditional porter traits from sullied flesh-headed brown-bodied deviant. Stilted sour prune waft burrows through acrid oaken grape astringency and styptic cocoa powder constriction. Charcoal-stained tobacco leaf, black tea, fig, and compost illusions spell dungy earthen bog.
TOMMYKNOCKER TUNDRA BEARY ALE
TOMMYKNOCKER ALPINE GLACIER LAGER
TOMOS WATKIN’S LOVELY ALE
Astringent dark amber English pale ale inconspicuously soft-bodied enough to be labeled ‘session bitter.’ Vegetal barnyard waft informs earthen nature as dry-hopped grassy wheat formality, husked barley aridity, and meager tangerine hint deplete toffee malting. Undesired diacetyl acridity ruins bland finish.
TOLLY COBBOLD SUFFOLK ALE
Hey, the New York Yankees won the World Series (again) the night we plowed these down! So in our state of euphoria, we concluded this fine bitter ale had lots of rich character and a fair amount of distinction (which it ultimately did). Brisk-hopped cereal malting provides sufficient bite. Strong, assertive, full-bodied, and well balanced with ancillary barley-oat freneticism that never overstays its welcome. Brewery defunct: 2002.
(TOLLY) COBNUT NUT BROWN ALE
Perfectly balanced, elegantly regal English brown ale brings rich Bavarian lager influence to classic English ale styling. Roasted barley-oats crowd mild nuttiness to creamy mocha finish, comparing favorably to Samuel Smith’s famous ales. Should win over anyone with even the slightest nut brown interest. Brewery defunct: 2002.
(ALL SAINTS) TITANIC ALE
Thick-headed full-bodied deep brown dark ale combines sweet malt creaminess with moderate spiciness before being usurped by highly-hopped frisk. Brewery defunct: 2002.
