On tap at Seven Lakes Station, curious Nelson Sauvin-hopped pale ale better defined as a New England IPA-inspired pale ale (than a simple pale ale) since its yogurt-soured yellow and orange fruiting sits atop a creamily wheated oat base. Tart lemon meringue, sweet orange peel, bitter yellow grapefruit, tangy peach and papaya combine with limey Nelson Sauvin-inspired green grape tannins, salted guava and sour gooseberry as citric lemongrass herbage beckons.

NEPENTHE ASTRAL DECAY PALE ALE
Fancier fruited pale ale is well designed IPA derivation. Juicy grapefruit-peeled orange rind zestfulness embraces salty white wining and floral-spiced pineapple, mandarin and peach illusions plus mild gooseberry-guava snips as piney Amarillo-Centennial hop herbage gains mild cannabis resin to contrast bright Citra-Nelson Sauvin hop tropicalia above honey-malted French breading.
SINGLECUT DEAN MAHOGANY PALE ALE
On tap at Seven Lakes Station, ‘classic mash-up’ of red ale-like brown breaded amber graining and pale ale-like floral perfumed orange/ tangerine tang with lemony grapefruit pining of an IPA. Mild red apple, red plum and Bosc pear illusions add further impact, but the flow’s inconsistent.
BULL N BEAR PYRAMID AMERICAN PALE ALE
Sharp grapefruit-peeled orange pith bittering and dry wood tones counter sugary pale malts in zestful tropical IPA-like setting reinforced by spruce-tipped fern minting.
TILTED BARN SUMMIT AMERICAN PALE ALE
On tap at Ambulance, hazy beige New England-styled pale ale brings slightly salted sour gooseberry, green grape and guava tartness to the fore as mild cantaloupe-honeydew sweetness flutters in viscous lactic setting. Dank hop resin adds to the mellow bittering and soft white wheated pilsner malting provides bready base.
EVIL TWIN NYC ONLY IN NEW YORK…CONTINUED
On tap at Kitchen & Beer Bar, clouded beige golden double dry-hopped pale ale receives briskly citrus-spiced IPA-like Citra-Cashmere-Mosiac hop thrust. Waxy tropical fruiting shows off zestful orange peeled mango, peach and tangerine tanginess contrasted by withered pine tones above wavered sourdough malts.
FLYING BISON IN THE CLOUDS PALE ALE
Sharp orange-peeled grapefruit, pineapple and peach tang, astringent hop herbage and floral-daubed pale malt spicing bring subtle IPA resonance to the fore. Tertiary red apple, pear and melon illusions flutter.
LOSO BIG BUCK AMERICAN ALE
Dry pale ale stays laidback as lemony grapefruit souring, tangy tangerine zesting and white peach tartness combine with herbal rusticity above mild toasted graining.
KANE RIPPLE SESSION ALE
Mild lemony yellow grapefruit zesting and lightly soured Nelson Sauvin-hopped gooseberry, guava, white grape and guava tropicalia float above oats-flaked pilsner malts with spritzy glee. Dryly sessionable moderation just slightly less bitter (sans pine tones) than a sour IPA.
FAT ORANGE CAT WHO LET THE BOOMERS OUT? PALE ALE
On tap at Jealous Monk, crushable hazy golden bronzed Citra-Mosaic-hopped pale ale collaboration with nearby Willimantic retains easygoing grapefruit, orange and pineapple tang above grassy pine resin and spicy crystal malts. A softer, less bitter India Pale Ale.
ALEMENTARY RANDOM PLACEMENT OF THINGS
On tap at Hoover’s Tavern, silken mildly creamed Extra Pale Ale brings lightly spiced tropical fruiting to nominal pine tones above subtle caramel malting. Spritzy grapefruit, orange, pineapple and mango zesting retains juicy appeal.
EQUILIBRIUM MMM…OSA PALE ALE
On tap at Draught Industries, adjunctive pale ale conditioned on ‘zested orange’ picks up salted lemony white grape esters and mild mandarin-tangelo-clementine snips. But it’s more like powdered soft drink, Tang, than a champagned Mimosa.
