WYATT’S WILD AGAVE BEER
Aromatic aftershave lotioning, peppery hop nose, and blue agave-spiced eucalyptus tongue climax with mint-y freshness. Initial peculiarities give way after a few sips, leaving an excessively cloy ginger-sugared finish. Pour slowly to correctly balance agave with sharp tequila twist.
YANYING PREMIUM LAGER
More cereal grained, wheat-y, and malt thickened than Chinese competitor, Tsingtao (and just as hop-infused), despite being less engaging. A hint of agave puts this clear-toned lager closer to Mexican brews, but soft fizz gets a tad cloy, stale, and acidic. China’s answer to Coors?
YINPU BLACK RICE (BROWN ALE)
Deep reddish amber hue appears thicker than soured grapefruit-tangerine frontage, fading smoked hop sharpness, and medium-bodied appeal. Wispy candied caramel malts allow sugar cookie and rice cake illusions to daub off-dry toasted barley finish.
YUENGLING LIGHT
Differs from Yuengling’s lager by losing most of its yeast sinew and barley sweetness for processed faux-grain rigidity and acidic phenol drop-off.
ZYWIEC PALE LAGER
Pronounced Ji-veech, this lightweight pale lager tosses gooey honey malting atop sharp floral spicing. Mild sourdough tease, sugary almond pasting, nutty coarseness and lemony subtleties linger across phenolic hop bittering to indiscernible watered-down butterscotch finish.
ABBAYE DU VAL-DIEU TRIPLE
Clean, polite, moderate-bodied triple with unassumingly lusty 9% alcohol volume and hazy flaxen hue sustains candied Scotch sweetness, fetching barleywine suavity, spiced citrus charm, and medicinal upsurge, receiving herbaceous peppery clove minting to fill out honeyed peach creaminess.
ABITA 20TH ANNIVERSARY PILSNER
Special ’06 release finds bitter lemon rind-tinged floral-blueberry frontage subsiding to grassy mineral-grained finish. Dry-bodied pale-toned billowy white-headed moderate pils’ only drawback is minor metallic astringency.
AFFLIGEM ABBEY DOBBEL ALE
Rich amber-hued fluffy-headed ale counters wonderful double-hopped bitterness with soft barleywine sweetness. Chewy rum-soaked chocolate malting increases caramel-cocoa creaminess above peppery hop resin. Prune-fig backdrop and nutty bottom punctuate mellow yeast flow.
ALESMITH HORNY DEVIL ALE
Great representative Belgian-styled pale ale boasts resounding malt-thickened 11% alcohol strength and expansive sugar-candied fruit juicing. Coppery whitish-sided Lucifer eulogizer crams compact raisin-prune-plum conflux into red apple ripeness, spicy coriander tingle, mild banana daiquiri sweetness and milky coconut snip. Tangy apricot-tangerine-passionfruit crest washes over brandied bruised orange warmth at luscious fruited finish, comparing favorably to Dogfish Head’s finest hop-infested malt-sweetened brews.
ALLAGASH ODYSSEY ALE AGED IN OAK BARRELS
Illustrious 10% alcohol-warmed full body aged in oak barrels makes perfect medicinal dessert beer. Ripe raisin waft emanates from creamy liquid. Judicious prune-plum continuance and gruff fig-date souring saddle wood-smoked molasses malting. Chocolate cake, vanilla bean, and bruised black cherry illusions come forward ahead of vinous burgundy-bourbon finish. A certain Cabernet Sauvignon subtlety strengthens over time. On tap at Copper Mine, anise-influenced mocha finish allows sugar-caned cardamom and allspice seasoning to gain strength as waxed crayon illusion occupies prominent dried fruiting.
AMARCORD LA PUTENA AMBER ALE
Blasé stump-bottled amber ale with lamest Vienna lager lineage coats thinning caramel malting with skittish mineral-grained earthiness, wispy yellow-orange fruiting, and grassy dry-hopped fling. Watery finish kills off any remaining flavor.
