NEW ENGLAND ELM CITY LAGER

By 2007, New England Brewery had relocated outside inceptive Norwalk site. Tinny green-canned straw-hued light-bodied German-styled pilsner yields to defective metallic astringency and slobbered malt liquor mustiness. Mild lemon-curried grapefruit-pitted bittering and rotten orange-peach sourness debilitate white-breaded rye wheat base, but mineral watered crispness ups the ante a bit for crisply clean session beer.

NEW HOLLAND DRAGON’S MILK ALE

Majestic oak-barreled ruddy maroon-hazed strong ale sustains durable burgundy-doused milk stout opulence. Hickory-smoked bourbon-sherry-port licks saturate lactose-frothed cocoa buttering, dark chocolate syruping and toffee molasses portal to rum-soaked raisin finish, gaining cherry puree souring along the way. Hop-charred maple-molasses density tweaks tertiary French vanilla, hazelnut, cola nut, plum wine, dark whiskey and Amaretto sassafras. Chewy slow sipper perfect as wintry nightcap.

NOGNE O #100 BARLEY WINE-STYLE ALE

Stirring Norwegian full body penetrates deeply as creamy chocolate-roasted burnt caramel malting sweetens dark-spiced cookie dough richness and dried-fruited anise-currant-sarsaparilla illusions. Sherry finish allows candied apple, bruised cherry, and vinous grape undertones to peak above raisin-plum souring and peanut-shelled hazelnut-walnut barb. Creme de cocoa, ice coffee, smoked molasses, and oaken vanilla nuances waver.
