Fairly viscous hazy yellow pale ale brings beautiful powdered sugar nose to cotton candied bubblegum mouthfeel as ceaselessly loud hop tingle encircles tongue. Phenol finish overtakes candied maple insurgence.
SEA DOG BLONDE ALE
Resilient strong blonde drapes bitter-grained hop sharpness atop delicate citrus perk to astringent straw wheat backbone. A feisty li’l sucker punctuated by sinewy pale malt heft.
SHENANDOAH OLD RAG MOUNTAIN ALE
Rich Scottish-style ale flaunts proud prune-browned hue, soured chocolate-cocoa creaminess and dry bourbon soothe. Resonant roasted coffee bid rises above brown-sugared caramel center, filling out complex mocha malt finish rather admirably. Brewery defunct: 2010.
SHIPYARD BLUE FIN STOUT
Creamy ebony-hued tan-headed medium-bodied dry stout with bitter dark chocolate waft, smooth ice coffee creaminess, and floral hop insistence retains barley-roasted peat malting. Plum and fig paint the corners. Burnt caramel and hazelnut endure to mild oats spine.
(SHMALTZ) CONEY ISLAND ALBINO PYTHON WHITE LAGER
Washed-out weakly-designed golden-hazed white-headed Belgian-styled witbier lacks neccesary up-front thrust. Soft lemon-fizzed coriander-spiced abatement and impending lime-agave tingle pick up misty green apple wisp. Lightly herbed white-peppered ginger-sage-rosemary tease loses out to carbolic seltzer spritz.
SIERRA NEVADA BROWN ALE
Strangely earthen lightweight can’t push astringent hops, toasted malts, and barren nuttiness above pungently metallic alcohol acridity.
(SILENRIEUX) SARA BUCKWHEAT ALE
Smoked cereal malting, grassy spelt graining and rhubarb-like buckwheat dryness drape compost-wafted prune intensity to wheat wine finish. Each sip brings out more of its voluptuous plum-raisin-prune character and tannic yellow grape souring above mildewed barnyard funk. Uncomplicated… subtle.
SIXPOINT BOLSHOI RUSSIAN IMPERIAL STOUT
Robust mahogany-hued tan-headed Imperial brings unanticipated floral aromatics to rich roasted chocolate theme. Dry maltose midst picks up vanilla-bourbon amble to dirty earthen finish, relegating toasted hop crease.
SLEEMAN HONEY BROWN LAGER
Bland light-bodied bronze-hazed Euro-styled lager lacks tangible distinction. Thick round-bubbled head and expectant Sleeman creaminess exist alongside mild sugar water palate as grassy-hopped astringency lingers to honey-roasted finish. Light white-breaded toasting nearly escapes notice.
SLY FOX ICHOR ABBEY STYLE QUADRUPLE
Meritorious bottle conditioned ruby-hued Belgian-styled quad brings strong prune nosing to thick dark rum-like sugar-caned maple-molasses sweetness, variable raisin-fig linger, chocolate liqueur simmer and earthen peat-tobacco remnant. Sticky licorice-candied malts rise against impending cherry-banana slumber, supple red grape tang and lemony raspberry tartness at plush sherry-port midst, further strengthening distinctive slow sipper. ’08 version brought burgundy, Merlot, and Chardonnay illusions and cherry puree whim to mellowed finish. Serve with hearty meal such as beef stew.
SMUTTYNOSE BIG ‘A’ INDIA PALE ALE
Busy hazy gold ale dedicated to fighter Killer Kielbasa complements initial phenol must with toasted barley, roasted nut, and burnt hops. Ripe tangerine tang and sunny lemon spritz underscore honeyed wheat seduction before herbal finish picks up emphatic orange rind bitterness and floral rosebud-dandelion accents.
