L’ALCHIMISTRE INDIA PALE ROUSSE ALE
Unassuming nickel-hued cereal grained IPA lacks character and distinction, but at least dry orange twinge, caramel malt wallow, and wheat biscuit sweetness make cameos.
LA TRAPPE QUADRUPEL TRAPPIST ALE
Re-fermented-in-the-bottle, sophisticated prune-clouded medium body anchors mellow medicinal sherry sweetness to velvet-y smooth hop-spiced subtlety; lacking harsh alcohol pungency of inflated quadrupel label. Flowery clove-nutmeg accents, fizzy apple-wined tartness, and mild orange peel bittering provide exquisite holiday seasoning to chewy caramel malt facade. Cinnamon raisin, almond, and grape illusions come and go. Oddly compelling; melts in your mouth.
LE CHEVAL BLANC ROUSSE
Rust-orange-hued red ale brings green apple nose and lemon-limed apricot-peach souring to fragile wheat bottom. Spicy yeast exertion abets narrow clove-mint nuance.
LEFT HAND JACKMAN’S PALE ALE
Sweet malts collide with snazzy citric hop bitterness for crisp up-front delight. Mild dirty-grained finish retains nutty pliancy. Just wish buttery lemon-spiced mildness didn’t quit halfway through.

Weak clear-bodied amber deserves better hop resolve considering IPA category. Phenol astringency depletes grapefruit-peach slush and bittersweet malt finish subsides abruptly.
LIEFMANS DE BOOMGAARD FRAMBOISE
More approachable but less enticing than Lindeman’s Framboise. Ruby-magenta-hued fruit ale brings circuitous raspberry tartness to tannic grape esters, medicinal black cherry tang and sour boysenberry-cranberry quip. Musk-y spicing absorbed by carbolic champagne-soda flow.
LION KRALOVSKY PALE DOUBLE BOCK
Soft-toned white-headed pale-bodied bock with bread-like yeast pungency, musty malt severity, and dry mocha sourness too light and insignificant for exalted class.
LITTLE APPLE PRAIRIE PALE ALE
Friendly spice-hopped disposition anchors pleasant barley-roasted butterscotch sweetness aiding zesty citric tingle.
LONGSHORE TARGET ROCK ALE
Cloudy brown-hued barley-roasted ale with delicate mocha outlining butterscotch, caramel, dried cocoa, and pale honey swatch. Yeast-thick barleywine overtones modulate dry finish. Brewery defunct: 2000.
LOST COAST 8-BALL STOUT
Robust, black-hued, cocoa-headed dry stout with sweet ‘n’ sour dark chocolate concentration given transitory oatmeal dalliance and spritzy hop flow gently backed by contagious mocha mildness, fleeting sticky maple stint, and prim nutmeat thickness. A chocolate pudding substitute.
MACAU PILSNER
Impossibly simple yet gently effective Chinese pilsner never allows unduly skunked malt waft to prohibit crisp-watered lemony hop pep and cracked barleycorn nicety from reaching fizzy soft-toned nirvana. At finish, pearly-headed palest-bodied lightweight levels astringent corn trepidation with nice rice splice.
