WEIHENSTEPHANER & DOEMENS 1809 BERLINER WEISSE

Slender golden-hazed glow radiates drier, bitterer German wheat beer supposedly first brewed for Napolean (and re-created by Dr. Fritz Briem). Extremely tart lemon juice frontage sags to sharp cider bittering. Sour grapefruit, unripe orange, and blanched banana-kiwi diminish below unexpected lemongrass proclivity and musty barnyard waft. Faint clove spicing barely sweetens quinine-watered backdrop.

WIDMER HEFEWEIZEN

Durable silky hop fizz, perfumed yeast nose, cotton candy pleasantry, and orange peel elegance imbue cloudy unfiltered moderate-bodied German knockoff (with heavy viscosity and yeast sediment). When served with lemon slice, wheat-barley essence absorbs fruit dollop and weakened lime flow. Serve to pilsner fans looking to expand their horizons.

WITKAP-PATER ABBEY-SINGEL ALE

Yet another brew that rips us off for .8 ounces (11.2 oz. instead of 12). Smooth, somewhat fruity Belgium ale goes down like clove-spiced champagne. Musty apple-pear misting and phenolic lemony grapefruit dissonance reach ransacked doughy bottom.  A tad too sudsy to fully satisfy the beast within, lacking body and character (especially when compared to finer Belgian ales).
