On tap at Growler & Gill, sumptuously dry Citra-hopped Imperial IPA valiantly coalesces tropical fruit juicing with lactic yogurt-like souring. Lemony sugar-spiced orange-grapefruit-pineapple tanginess contrasts grassy hop musk and mild pine tones while sourly tart redcurrant-glazed melon rind, guava, papaya, gooseberry and mango illusions leave protruding imprint.
On tap at Ambulance, busily hybridized bronze-hazed “triple” IPA brings sharp grapefruit-peeled orange pith bittering to cucumber-watered watermelon rind adjunct. Dry pale malt foundation firmly grounds bitter citrus-influenced watermelon frontage and subtle mango-guava-kiwi tropicalia. Possibly the most adventurous and rich watermelon-fronted fruit ale circa 2018.
