KENILWORTH, NEW JERSEY
Occupying an unfinished white brick-walled warehouse in the Central Jersey Borough of Kenilworth, TWO TON BREWING originally came aboard as gypsy brewers in 2014 (utilizing Climax and High Point), opening its current taproom facility during 2018.
Two Ton’s raw one-room space features a 12-plus draught board at the bark-sided mahogany serving station, a few wood tables, several silver brew tanks, an overhead back door (leading to the makeshift beer garden) and exposed ceiling ducts.

Luxuriously rich stout exudes creamy dark chocolate richness and dried cocoa sustenance above maple-sapped oats. Black coffee, vanilla and anise illusions touch down alongside bruised black cherry tartness and prune-stewed fig stead, deepening its bittersweet mocha foundation.
Tangy, tart and spicy blood orange adjunct goes all the way for resilient hazy amber blond ale. Prominent blood orange blast receives lusty tangerine juicing, citron-perfumed English ale yeast misting, candied baby aspirin tartness and floral orange blossom wisps over delicate French-breaded crystal malting. Spritzy summertime fun.
On tap at Taphouse Grille – Wayne, raw-honeyed five grain breading gains dry rye influence, subtle sourdough murk and polite toasted hop musk.
On tap at Poor Henry’s, light vanilla creaming battles back lactic yogurt souring and tannic grape tartness. In the midst, rum-buttered banana daiquiri sweetness fades quick as dry plantain acridity sets in alongside tertiary boysenberry-gooseberry pucker. A bit waxy.
On tap at Poor Henry’s, dry Citra-hopped medium body tosses juicy pineapple tanginess and lemony grapefruit zest at lightly sour lactose influence. Another fine hybridized New England-styled IPA.
On tap at Poor Henry’s, “hoppier Americanized barleywine” celebrates brewers’ one-year anniversary ale in mild style with tingly toned-down affectations. Soft whiskey tone slowly enveloped by moderate caramel-toasted toffee and coconut sweetness to contrast dry oaken vanilla snips. Just a shade thin.
On tap at Plank Pizza, creamy brown chocolate sweetness and rich Madagascar vanilla beaning create mighty fine full-bodied porter. Sugary cookie dough center contrasts mild earthen peat bottom as tertiary black cherry, raspberry and strawberry whims increase serenity of chocolate-vanilla dessert treat.
