On tap at Julian’s, opulent Belgian quad with sweet whiskey barrel-matured candi-sugaring and mighty 10.5% ABV warmth receives chewy caramel, toffee and vanilla creaming. Syrupy bourbon, white rum and sherry subtleties share space alongside red cherry, peach, candied orange, pink grapefruit, bruised orange, banana and sugarplum illusions at the whiskey-daubed fruitful finish. In the bottle, dewy Scotch whiskey sweetness gains dried fig nicety, molasses candied toffee sugaring, maple walnut snicker and mild truffle earthiness over vanilla-creamed brown chocolate bottom.

THIMBLE ISLAND GHOST ISLAND DOUBLE IPA

On tap at Arooga’s, rousing orange-peeled lemon seed bittering and brisk yellow grapefruit tang provide hard-candied sweet ‘n sour profile. Tertiary tangerine, clementine and pineapple illusions allow fruitiness to expand above moderate pale malt base. Aggressive Citra hop briskness anchors 8% ABV DIPA, deepening its juicy citrus frontage and resinous pine hind. In the bottle, richer doughy yeast sinew arouses bitter yellow fruiting plus dark cherry, bruised orange and sweet fig illusions.
