Spice-hopped lactose-aided hazy brown port integrates dry roasted coffee souring with oncoming mouth-puckering grape tannic bitterness and oak-aged cherry acridity. Black licorice, charcoal, and dehydrated raisin contrast looming nutty creaminess.
(MENDOCINO) BLUE HERON PALE ALE
Light-bodied golden ale lacks tangible nose, but retains sweet wheat-cracked barley biscuit signature, soft water foundation, and nutty caramel malt lining. Off-dry woody hops dissapate tangy orange snippet.
MEXICALI LAGER
Brewed in Texas as well as Mexico, this lawnmowing pale lager has a long history and its bottled and canned versions have featured many different, but similar, labels. Obvious Tex-Mex tequila-agave assertion goes fine with lemon twist. But too delicate and unassuming, lacking distinction from fizzed pilsner mouthfeel to light grained finish.
MICHIGAN MACKINAC PALE ALE
Protracted cereal-grained marzipan sweetness counters grassy-hopped lemony orange peel bittering and acidic alcohol astringency fronting rust-hazed medium body. Resinous floral spices then infiltrate buttery wheat biscuit spine, nestling latent apple-peach-pear tingle.
