On tap at Poor Henry’s, politely creamed Irish Coffee cocktail derivation relegates Irish whiskey-tinged toasted oak spirals and lactose demerara-sugared nutmeg spicing. Instead, durable coffee theme gains dark chocolate thrust as well as mild vanilla, cinnamon, molasses and black cherry illusions to offset snubbed whiskey tones. A fine brunch-styled winter warmer.

OMNIPOLLO ALAZAR STOUT

On tap at Taphouse 15, chewy slow sippin’ dessert treat layers creamy peanut-buttered dark roast chocolate atop  Ancillary fudged brownie, vanilla bean, toasted coconut, dark cocoa and white chocolate illusions drenched in sweet bourbon-burgundy wining underscore rich mocha monster. Despite blonde stout tag (due to dubious white chocolate sugaring), this pours dark brown.

GOOSE ISLAND BOURBON COUNTY BARLEYWINE AGED IN BOURBON BARRELS – 2017

Elegantly suave 2017 barleywine aged in Heaven Hills bourbon barrels (14.4% ABV) really soothes the nerves. Sweet bourbon vanilla sugaring coated by brown chocolate syruping picks up candied cherry tartness and pureed orange bruise. Mild cognac, sherry and burgundy wining regales bourbon booziness. Oaken charcoal bittering (and crisp tobacco roast) underscore cherry chocolate-caked finish. Marvelous.
